What Do You Want For Your Career's Future?

What is your career goal? When you entered college, how did you decide what you wanted to study? Were you given assessment tests? Did you speak with a career counselor? Did you have someone who you admired and wanted to follow in their footsteps? Perhaps you had special passions that stemmed from a personal event in your life.

Too many follow other classmates in their studies, not having a clue what career is best suited for them. Each person has strengths and natural abilities, which can help him/her to select a career path utilizing those talents. Of course, if you have a special passion, that can help to match your abilities to a certain industry or business.

Though many people do not give their career selections enough attention initially. there are many who take the time to examine this more carefully when a career transition takes place later in their lives. Whatever career path you choose, there will probably be levels of growth in that path. This path should include getting actual experience in the field, as well as additional education and training over time. So what is your eventual career goal and what are you doing to accomplish this?

Invest in yourself and your career; seek employers who will do the same. This is a win-win for both. Be open to potential evolutions to your career path. There is always new information that can cause a twist to one's career path. Learning is constant. It is wise to be flexible.
